One important note: To believe this... AI has to forget the wall is part of the closed loop. What AI can't reconcile is; with Noether's Theorem, we break symmetry with Newton when we create an equal and opposite reaction in the slug and the platform. The mass of the platform is actually less when the ball is not in contact so that checks out. When the ball reflects off the wall, there is an almost perfectly elastic bounce... meaning no energy transfer... no momentum transfer. The ball doesn't slow down, the platform doesn't slow down, the ball just reverses direction... Cool! When you catch it, the vectors of the platform and the ball are aligned so you get an addition of momentum in the same vectored direction. What is interesting is, this is really just a Thornson Device but they've managed to eliminate the reverse thrust by coiling the path the ions take.
