John Dee is not an individual I can remember having heard much about. Minus the supernatural stuff, he sounds interesting. Need to go do some wiki reading.

And any day now, I'm going to find a good bio treatment of John Wallis, who seems to have played a very crucial role in European mathematics at one time.
