If I ever found myself in a situation like that, my immediate thoughts would be 1) is there any way to improve my chances of survival, and 2) do I have the ability to send a message to my loved ones letting them know how much I care about them?

Otherwise that's not a bad way to go. Nuclear weapon, close range? Instant vaporization. I'd be OK with that.
