I wonder how much of the "Buddhist violence" is merely violence committed by people who happen to be Buddhists as opposed to violence with the goal of spreading and strengthening Buddhism. After all the Mafia is a violent criminal organization whose members happen to be Catholic and whose rituals are steeped in Catholicism, but it would be intellectually dishonest to list the Mafia as an example of Christian violence.
