It's Obama's fault [View all]
Obama was/is a great president. But, as leader of the Democratic Party, he presided over the destruction of the Party at every level, from local to federal, and to this day he continues to enable the Republicans by doing what he can to legitimize Trump. His campaign team did outstanding work for Obama, while letting the Party fall to pieces over the last 8 ears. It his team that has put America at risk, and Obama is the one responsible.
While he did so much for the United States, it basically will all be washed away because of his supreme failure to protect the Party itself. At this point, we can't hope for anything from the weak, divided, and powerless Democratic Party. Instead, we have to hope that activism slows down the Republicans, that Trump's eccentric thinking gives us a few breaks, that the aging Supreme Court holds onto to it's moderate/conservative tilt, and that somehow the Democrats find fresh, courageous leadership from a party in ruins to rebuild from the bottom up.
I don't blame Hillary or Bernie in the least for what happened. Sure, they made mistakes, but even with their mistakes we should not be in this position at all. I blame Obama. He failed us, and with his weak-kneed approach to Trump, Obama continues to fail us. Obama's approach to Trump reminds of Bill Clinton's outreach to Rush Limbaugh early in his presidency. Limbaugh took that outreach and turned it against the Clintons in the fiercest way. That's what bullies do. That's what Trump will do to Obama's legacy and to our rights.
We used to say that Obama was a chess player who was always two moves ahead of the opposition. Well, now in the words of chess Obama is just a patzer.
