For example, as of 2014, New York provided for a payment of $15 per day to electors. That's the same amount that was established in 1976 and its tradition in New York for electors to donate their compensation to charity.

In Virginia, under the law in effect in 2016, electors are paid fifty dollars per day while actually engaged in the discharge of their official duties.
