Why would very active DUers who were briefly on review never post again?

The one I miss the most really liked posting here, had been here a long time and was a MIRT member not long ago. She once told me that DU was where she got most of her news. She was casual about the automatic review of anyone who got two quick hides and knew it didn't last long. She was also beloved of fellow Bernie supporters.

It doesn't make sense that she wouldn't come back after a few days off and wouldn't stay in touch with anyone.

The other person had been given timeouts repeatedly for getting 5 hides, but she always came back. She was put on review for several weeks, then supposedly returned to active status but we never heard from her again.

I keep thinking there might be something else going on, such as the admins changing a status from review to active but keeping the person locked out, possibly because they hadn't met the formal criteria for banning.
