(456 posts)6. I suffered a stroke in my early 50s
I was a heavy smoker and overweight. It was suggested that I had suffered TIAs (mini-strokes) in the past and not be aware of it.
I was in a nursing home for 6 months until my body recover enough to start physical therapy. I joke about that time as me being at the airport in the long term parking lot.
My 85 year old Dad visited every week, and grab/squeezed my hand and told me that I would walk again. The support I got from my Dad/Family is the reason I am walking today.
Your son WILL recover and your SUPPORT will help him on the path of recovery
