Sephora, more brands cut ties with Lori Laughlin's daughter Olivia Jade amid college admissions scandal

BY SOPHIE LEWIS

Olivia Jade Giannulli is starting to feel the backlash over her parents' alleged involvement in the massive college admissions scandal. Amid a flurry of criticism and #boycottsephora tweets, Sephora is ending its relationship with Giannulli — the 19-year-old social media influencer whose parents, actress Lori Loughlin and designer Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly paid $500,000 in bribes to get her and her sister designated as recruits to the USC crew team, despite the fact that neither girl ever rowed crew.

Olivia Jade apparently capitalized on her experience at USC with sponsored posts for various brands. She also worked with beauty retailer Sephora on numerous occasions to promote its products, attend events and collaborate on the Olivia Jade x Sephora Collection Bronze & Illuminate Palette.

Sephora put out a statement Thursday announcing the end of the partnership. "After careful review of recent developments, we have made the decision to end the Sephora Collection partnership with Olivia Jade, effective immediately," a Sephora spokesperson told CBS News.

Giannulli has also been sponsored by a number of other companies, including TRESemmé, Princess Polly, Smile Direct Club, Amazon Prime Student, Clinique, Lulus, Windsor, Dolce & Gabbana Beauty, Conair, Boohoo and Smashbox Cosmetics.

"Lulus has not worked with Olivia Jade since August 2018 and we have no plans to do so in the future." Colleen Winter, co-founder and CEO of Lulus, told CBS News.

"TRESemmé is no longer working with Olivia Jade Giannulli," a TRESemmé spokesperson told CBS News.

Clinique and Smashbox are both owned by The Estée Lauder Companies. "The Estée Lauder Companies' brands have no current campaigns with Olivia Jade and no plans to work with her in the future," a spokesperson told CBS News.

"Social media influencer." Dear God. That's the limit to her ambition? WTF?!? That's sadder than mommy & daddy bribing her way into school. She's trying to out-Kardashian the Kardashians. I'll bet this is the first time in her life she's ever had to deal with reality. Welcome to the real world, kiddo. I hope she learns from this, but it doesn't appear that she was taught ethics and values. We'll see, though--she's young. She sure is shiny, though, in that plastic model way.
