It was not a threat, simply a really stupid hyperbole. There is nothing in the Rules of Professional Conduct about lawyers making stupid public statements. A lawyer needs to be more careful about what is said in court or a pleading but a lawyer is as free as everyone else in saying irresponsible things in public.
