5. I was watching Bowling For Columbine

about a month ago (I saw it about 20 years ago) and Michael Moore did a large segment on how instilling fear is used by the media to boost ratings. They promote and exaggerate the actual amounts of violence, thefts, etc and has fueled gun buying in the US. Meanwhile the opposite is true...violence around the world is at its lowest point ever. However, the news needs to boost ratings and make more money so they keep sensationalizing events to make them seem more prevalent than they actually are. Make people unrealistically fearful and they buy guns...simple.
