Gun Control Reform Activism
Showing Original Post only (View all)Nomination: wyldwolf for Lead Host [View all]
His statement on the matter:
I'll be more than happy to host, solo for a while if necessary, to clean out the gun trolls who've already come in. I have no desire to be the only host long term but also have no issue taking on anyone who is attempting to subvert or undermine the purpose of this forum. I don't care if someone thinks the SOP was worded vaguely. We're not in a court room. The original team of DUers who pushed for this group know the intended purpose here and we'll administer the group based on that.
The proposed slate of other hosts includes myself, Robb, SecularMotion and potentially additional hosts as needed (we all have real lives and can't be here all the time ). We all agree to work together productively and to uphold the SOP as previously agreed upon:
Discuss how to enact progressive gun control reform in a supportive environment. The group serves as a safe haven in which to mobilize supporters in support of measures reducing gun violence by changing laws, culture and practice at the municipal, state, and federal levels. While there is no single solution to the tragic epidemic of gun violence, members agree that more guns are not the solution to gun violence, and are expected to be supportive of the policies of progressive gun control reform organizations.
I think the SOP as written is pretty damn clear, I thought we all generally worked well in agreeing upon the language and character of the group. I think we can generally apply this consistency and with good judgment as a hosting team. If we wish, I am more than happy to draft a formal structure for making decisions but at this point I don't think it's necessary. I think we'll likely agree to draft and agree upon a statement of expectations for this group and pin them to the top and that can be a rubric.
In over a decade of being a member of DU with wyldwolf I have seen nothing that would make me hesitate in my support and belief that he will assume the position of Lead Host with integrity and due diligence to serve the best interests of this group and of DU. If there are no substantive objections then wyldwolf has the approval of the group to notify Skinner and request appointment. With that, I motion for unanimous consent and will let this thread go for 24 hours or until it becomes apparent that there is no likely objection on the merits.
Please make your comments succinct and productive in bringing an orderly formation to this groups hosting team. Thank You AND HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

Third that motion, and request that others willing to serve jump in very soon for interlopers.

Works for me, and the sooner the better. This group needs a host to clean out the disruptors.

Yes, as Skinner says, contact him, preferrably with the list of members that want WW.
