I'm not a big fan of Stephen King's horror stuff - spectacular writing, just not my thing - but the movies based on his books like 'Misery', 'Dolores Claiborne', 'The Shawshank Redemption', 'Thinner', 'The Green Mile' are absolute treasures, IMHO. His ability to dig into the human psyche and bring it to life is pure genius.
