(3,814 posts)It doesn't enter his mind that most Dem voters are ideologically center-left voters who believe in safety-net capitalism (ie, what the party has always stood for) and who reject socialism or the nationalization of healthcare. Polls showing voters support for 'Medicare for all' imo don't tell us much since many voters don't understand that it would abolish private healthcare, and think it its the same as 'Medicare for all who want it' (ie, the public option).
Also, many young voters under 30 are voting for 'anti-establishment' not neccessarily leftwing or progressive ideals or whatever. Many of them liked Ron Paul before Bernie came along.
This is not to discount the reality that there is a generational issue that Dems need to address, but it's not exactly how Bernie lays it out.
