Of course remembering how the Kochs hired agents to secretly bring together, fund and direct the growing RW resentments -- resentments against them, against the political agents the wealthy had used to take over the GOP, against "the establishment"!-- as the Tea Party and turn it on Democrats and not-so-crazy conservatives.
Those fool-tools served their enemies well until they believed the GOP's anti-spending rhetoric and got so full of themselves that they tried to turn off the spigot on the Republican wealth transfer. Then the spigot was turned off on them. Movement cancelled.
Would have thought it couldn't get more stupid than that, but then they found Trump. A disordered, astonishingly incompetent billionaire literally without capacity for any ideology beyond "me."
Meanwhile, on the populist left most are also perfectly comfortable with having no real idea where their current leader -- who does appear to have his own questionable relationship with reality -- wants to take them. And the well-meaning followers, drawn to high-minded ideals rather than destruction, have no idea that their movement is dominated by people who are very different from them, with very different drives. When all claims and promises from the stump collide with reality on examination, it's reality that's denied.
