this country. The supposed GMO revolution has increased use because instead of improving resistance to pests, much of the modifications have focused on increasing resistance to pesticides so that more can be applied without killing the crops.
Personally I believe that the neo-nics may be what are making everyone crazy. The nicotinic receptors in the brain when activated cause the release of seratonin and dopamine (calming neurotransmitters). I think the pesticide is lodging in these receptors and sticking there, without activating the release of seratonin and dopamine. The net effect is that people are running around like a smoker trying to quit.
