1. To be effective, the Military depends upon a group to be wholly cohesive

and dedicated to each other as well as the mission they're assigned.

If you have certain members adopting racist and xenophobic attitudes, both the racist and victim won't be able to depend upon one another to protect them and/or to execute the mission. Not forgetting that they have to live together. You can't have members of, say, a platoon persecuting one another like hazing in a fraternity -- or worse.
