Really? I'd argue the exact opposite. Billionaires have bought up all of the mainstream media, and what we read are regime talking points.

Many journalists have gone independent rather than submit to the censorship - folks like Jim Acosta, Katie Phang, most recently Scott MacFarlane. Even Katie Couric has set herself up on Substack with the rest of the independent media.
