The OP is rightfully concerned as the right always claims that many of the people receiving SSDI are scamming the system (which is absolutely not true). Medicaid, SNAP and SSI are not welfare; they are public benefits, and many of the people who receive Medicaid and SNAP are employed. Raising the retirement to 70 years old would be disastrous for many people who are no longer able to work and don't receive a pension or have savings. None of these benefits should be cut - in fact, they should be expanded as they are life saving.
