the value is in the shipping lanes. Due to climate change, the waterways are open for longer times, making it useful for all kinds of shipping. If a NATO country has a stake in controlling those shipping lanes, trump wants to get rid of them. The largest land holdings there are Russia and Canada. He has to take control of Canada to get control of the lanes because Putin is his buddy and will share with the US - hah!

On page 2 you can see a map of the area. The US is minority holder of land and waterways that will control access to 75% of the globe.
