Then there's the simple fact that people age differently. Overweight = more possibility for sagging. Healthier diet and such can help postpone some aging. Sun or UV exposure is horrible for skin.

Plus there's the photograph-selection effect. You can pick a good picture with good lighting, a smile, etc., or a bad picture. We've griped about when (D) are presented with their worst possible pictures because it's just unethical but seem oblivious to the same principle when it suits us. I don't care which way a publication leans, I prefer representative, neutral, depictions. (Unless it's specifically of somebody screaming, tripping, barfing, whatever--and *that* is the story. Not "So-and-so gave a speech at the Rotary Club" and it shows the person dozing off or bedraggled or tripping up the stairs, unless that's what s/he actually looked like while giving the speech.)
