...as has already been demonstrated on this thread, 'openly Christian' is not regarded kindly by a significant number of Dem voters. It demands too nuanced an understanding of faith and identity, I guess.

That's not to say a Dem of any stripe (red, green, or lavender) wouldn't get desperate Dem votes, but to me it says there's a long way to go to build a real coalition. Of course, leveraging simple hate (cf MAGA) will always be easier than mobilizing the complexities of empathy, love, and imagination. Hopefully we'll have time to try.
