(315 posts)is problematic only because sexism and misogyny are so deeply ingrained in the American psyche. Trump's reign of terror proves that it's just as bad as it ever was. You see it everywhere. Men in power have no interest in addressing the issues.
Moderates still have a big problem with voting for a woman, and a female candidate is always seen as "too far left." So any debate about whether a woman candidate has the right communication skills and the right charisma or persuasive power is beside the point. "Women should be trained for verbal combat in a male-dominated space." --so much wrong with that statement it's mind-blowing. The message is, "Women, be a Man!
I'm already resigned to the fact that in this climate, with everything riding on the next elections, a woman has no chance of heading the ticket. But still, it's not the time to give up. Let's continue work to get as many qualified women in all the other offices as possible, and maybe one day...one day, one of them will finally rise to the top.
