Not quite. The seats that were lost were in states that voted for 45 - WV, MT, OH, and unfortunately this go-around, PA (which has only rarely had 2 (D) Senators).

HOWEVER (D)s have gained a (D) (Ruben Gallego) to replace the intransigent (I) Kristen Sinema.

It had nothing to do with the operations of the Senate but with what was going on in the-above named states. Everyone knew that WV would be lost when Manchin stepped down and MT's Tester had only barely won his previous 2 elections.

Remember that Schumer had been a "Leader" in 2020 (when (D)s took the Senate back after 6 years) and 2022 (when we gained a seat).

It's all in the map. The fact that we didn't have Senators wiped out in some of the other swing states like NV, WI, & MI, is a testament at maintaining what we could.
