2. The "criminals" will always thwart the law

but one must continue to "educate" the young (and the masses) to whittle the mess down to the pure criminal element (which are often unreachable).

E.g., as long as this type of thing is going on - TSA stops passenger with dozens of firecrackers and knives in her carry-on



then there is apparently a LACK of common sense "safety education", which would obviously need to extend to firearms.

And the issue of "mental health" has always been thrown out there as a canard, but it has been near-impossible to get "red flag laws" enacted and/or enforced so that such individuals can even be "flagged" and dealt with. And there is always the danger of misusing the "mental health" excuse to target the "innocent" (perhaps stressed but not clinically mentally ill) and intentionally ignore the "obvious suspected ones with a history", because they don't fit "the description".
