My parents had a large family and money was of course tight, so my mother made us eat puffed wheat cereal. It came in plastic bags and no amount of sugar made it tolerable. This was in the late 60's / early 70's. When things improved a little bit I was always the one who eschewed the sweet cereals in favor of Corn Flakes, Cheerios, Rice Krispies, Total and Wheaties. The only cereal my father would eat was Raisin Bran, so that tended to be available.
After I grew up I became quite fond of Frosted Mini Wheats. I can snack on them all night.
As I recall a lot of different brands had a toy in the box. My mother would be furious at whoever made a mess of the cereal box digging down to the bottom to get the piece of plastic trash!

At a point I knew the toy was at the bottom. So I would reach in and just take the toy. My favorite was Rice Chex--no

I had a Tony the Tiger stuffie. I won at some carnival. Still remember Frosted Flakes.Nice and sweet. Thank you ,
