Since I made my living for years working on millitary and super highways I feel I probably am more than qualified to speak on this subject. I have heard your negativity for years! And know better than to think a new highway doesn't increase commerce, land value and jobs! I can remember when cianbro was building box culverts on the interstate in pitsfield and clinton area! they evolved to be one of the largest contractors in Maine!
I heard your negativity when we were working on dow! look at Bangor today!I heard your negativity when I was working in the gravel pits in cumberland(now one of the highest land values in maine! I heard your negativity in falmouth(look at the price of homes their!)
but besides your not having a valid point the east west has been killed by the negative effect of those who are not qualified spreading the news for those that want to keep (the money, the power and the control for themselves) the status quo! you see the maine turnpike was built with private money! and though I doubt your older than me I'm sure even a negative person such as yourself has benefitted from its existence! and probably couldn't live so well if we closed it!
so think negativity has kept maine 40 years behind the rest of the country for years!
when is the last time you really looked at how much our neighbor (new brunswick) has moved foward in the last 50 years?
I know I won't change your mind-but I will speak mine!
