Somebody is trying to express a kind greeting on a day that is important to them. Might there have been a way for you to hold your tongue or at least state your piece in a manner a bit more respectful on a day that is meaningful to them? I don't think the OP was trying to harm or insult you.

(And no, I do not consider myself Christian or religious in anyway.)
