1. no fuel required to kick out the watt-hours

brilliant. No carbon, no mining, no drilling, no spilling, no nuclear waste. Fuel wise that is.

Of course there is a carbon cost to build the turbines, lay the cable etc. Just like any other industrial scale power generation system.
