I planned a week's vacation to D.C. around 1968 using 'Mobil (gasoline) tour books' at my local library.

Booked a hotel room via USPS postcard.
Made an itinerary of places to see and how to get there.

Yes, folks traveled before the internet.

My mother traveled from Texas to Ohio in the 1930's with 3 toddlers.
